Would you give your house keys to a liar and a thief? The rich and famous inhabitants of 19th century Edinburgh did just that.
Would you walk down an alleyway at night knowing that the contents of a toilet might be emptied onto your head? It happened in Edinburgh’s Old Town from 16th – 19th century.
From Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood palace is known as the Old Town today with the castle at the top of the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace at the bottom.
This podcast is the first in a four part series on EDINBURGH city, the Capital of Scotland. This Podcast will look at Edinburgh from its early beginnings right up to today with stories of gentlemen by day and thieves by night. It will highlight some of the most prominent buildings on the Royal Mile and, when talking about the St Giles Cathedral, you will hear a desperate story of some of the inhabitants who were buried in the old graveyard.
