Four of us spent an excellent day with John in September of 2013. We arrived on a Seabourn cruise ship, never having visited Glasgow and surrounding area. We chose the full-day basic “city and environs” tour. John’s knowledge of the area and it’s history were most useful. He lived up to our expectations fully and we recommend him unhesitatingly!
We had a great time in Scotland. John was awesome. How he knows all that history with such detail is mind boggling to me. He was a real joy. As predicted… the trip was a bit of a whirlwind… but it was perfect for an overview of so much territory and so many distilleries. The islands are beautiful and hopefully we’ll return sometime and spend a little more time in a few of the places. We absolutely will (and already have) recommended John to friends and family.

John’s commentary on a day trip up Loch Lomond and on through Inveraray to St Conan’s Kirk on Loch Awe was excellent and most entertaining. He brought together historical facts and anecdotes, observations on architecture and his own brand of humour – it all flowed seamlessly as did his schedule, making it a very enjoyable and memorable outing.
I also just wanted to thank you again for the lovely day out. Our time was limited and you were able to show us so much, we really did appreciate that. My father has seen the pictures and has been going on about Scotland ever since and he didn’t even go! I’m trying to convince him of going on a return trip as a family and hopefully we’ll be able to stay longer than just a few days so you can show us around your hometown of Edinburgh.
Hi John, since returning home we have been busy going through our pictures. I compiled a thick Creich book for Dave and I, then made copies for my Creech relatives. They are as excited as Dave and I are with how much information we were able to learn. Can’t thank you enough for bringing our family history alive for us. Our St Andrews and Stirling tour was a great trip to Scotland. John Harbour provided by Celebrated Experiences was an absolutely fantastic guide. One of the best tour guides we have ever had.
I have been fortunate enough to be able to hire private guides for many of my travels over the years. Some have been booked directly with the guide, some have been through the hotel I was staying at and others have been through a travel agent. Overall, I’ve had good experiences but none of them compares to my experience with John Harbour. We spent a full day with John exploring some of the sites outside of Edinburgh. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the places we visited, even the ones that he had never been to before. He is extremely professional, a great conversationalist and has a good sense of humor. I find these traits very important when you are sitting in a car for hours and hours with someone! He is a Blue Badge Guide and you could tell how much that was respected by the people who ran all of the places we visited. John truly loves Scotland and loves sharing every detail of it with visitors. By the end of your time with John you’ll feel like you have a new friend in Scotland.
